Dr. Bharat Lakhanpal is the Chief Information Officer and Chief Operating Officer at TerraCotta. In this role, Dr. Lakhanpal leads the technology-methodology integration at TerraCotta Lab, TerraCotta’s research arm, and is responsible for a wide range of strategic initiatives at the firm, including bank relations and investor relations.

Prior to joining TerraCotta, Dr. Lakhanpal held senior positions at Oaktree Capital Management, first as a Managing Director and then as the firm’s Chief Information Officer– a role in which he had global responsibility for the firm’s information and technology initiatives related to investment and operations. Prior to Oaktree, Dr. Lakhanpal was a Professor in Information Systems and Decision Sciences at the College of Business and Economics, California State University, Fullerton, during which time he also advised many large organizations on technology, strategy, and operations improvement. Dr. Lakhanpal was also a member of the Board of Directors at State Bank of India (California), serving on and chairing the credit, audit, and technology committees. In addition, he is a member of the Pacific Council on International Policy and the Asia Society.

Dr. Lakhanpal received his PhD in Management from the University of California, Irvine with an emphasis in Management Information Systems. He also received an MBA in Finance and Marketing and a Bachelor’s degree in Physics from the University of Delhi, India.
