Tingting Zhang

Dr. Zhang is the Founder and President of the TerraCotta Group LLC., and a co-founder of TerraCotta Asset Management, LLC. She is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the company and sits on TerraCotta’s investment committee.  

Prior to founding TerraCotta, Dr. Zhang was a Senior Consultant with the Eurasia Group, a world’s leading economic and political consulting firm. During her tenure at Eurasia Group, she conducted political and economic risk analyses for senior executives of global financial companies and such Fortune 500 companies as Citigroup, AIG, Deutsche Bank, and Price Waterhouse Coopers. She also provided consulting services for the National Intelligence Council of the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), and was a primary contributor to the development of the Deutsche Bank-Eurasia Group Stability Index (DESIX), the first and only political risk index on Wall Street.  She has contributed to a number of research projects that were featured in The Wall Street Journal, The Financial Times, Newsweek, and The Economist. She has written and published extensively on the subjects of public finance, central-local relations and environmental issues in developing economies. She has also appeared on CNN, NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams, CNBC, KTLA-TV (Los Angeles), and has been interviewed by the Los Angeles Times and the L.A Daily News. Dr. Zhang co-founded the Special Assets Management Association (SAMA), the only non-profit trade association for banking executives in special assets management. She sits on SAMA’s Board of Directors as a Co-Chair. Dr. Zhang holds two Master’s degrees, in Statistics and International Relations as well as a Doctorate in International Political Economy from the University of California, Los Angeles.

Darren C. Cline

Mr. Cline is a co-founder of Terracotta Asset Management, LLC.  His responsibilities include broker relations management, property valuation, and fundraising. He is a member of TerraCotta’s investment committee.

Prior to joining Terracotta, Mr. Cline worked with a large number of corporate clients during his tenure at Grubb & Ellis. He completed some of the largest real estate transactions in the San Fernando Valley/Ventura County.  After graduating from UCLA, he joined Colliers International’s San Fernando Valley office where he received extensive training and a background in all aspects of brokerage services including Industrial/Office sales, leasing and investment. Mr. Cline attended college at the University of California, Los Angeles and has a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with a Minor in International Relations.  While attending UCLA, he was a member of the football team for five years and was a two-year starter for the Bruins. Mr. Cline continues his community involvement by participating in such organizations as the Big Brothers/Big Sisters Program, where he serves as a mentor, and Notre Dame High School (Sherman Oaks), where he serves as a football coach.

Ashlie Holmes

Ms. Holmes joined TerraCotta in 2011 as a research assistant. She is responsible for collecting and compiling information during the due diligence process. She also volunteers with the Special Asset Management Association (SAMA), handling the administrative duties of the association.

Prior to joining TerraCotta, Ms. Holmes was the manager for several audiologist practices in the Southern California area. She graduated from the University of Iowa with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a minor in English.

Veronica Ramos

Ms. Ramos leads TerraCotta’s loan research team. She is responsible for analyzing property cash flow, borrower’s financials, and building models for investment return projections. She is a member of TerraCotta’s investment committee and also acts as a liaison with attorneys and other third party vendors.

Ms. Ramos joined the TerraCotta Group in 2006 as an analyst. She has received extensive training in loan underwriting, loan documentation, pipeline management, loan workout and collections. She graduated from

UCLA with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in Applied Developmental Psychology. Ms. Ramos was a Psychology Research Opportunity Program Scholar (PROPS) at UCLA. During her scholarship, she helped conduct research on children’s perceptions of racial discrimination.

Ms. Ramos volunteers with the Special Assets Management Association (SAMA), the only trade association dedicated to professionals in the workout arena. She organizes the association’s monthly meetings and annual conferences and also manages the association’s memberships and website.
